Whats the hot Idaho deer pick?

OK I admit Im being lazy dont have time to read HF eastman's or the rest thinking about putting down 11 early as it wont interfere with my washington late hunt that Im going to draw...any other units I should consider

I would rather put in for 14 over 11.  Country is similar, tall steep and open.  14 is a little easier to draw.  But 14 probably doesn't put out as big of bucks as 11.  I have never hunted either one but I have been in both of them.  I also like 18 too.  Have seen some good bucks in 18 while whitetail hunting.  All are good units.

On a side note I didn't put in for any of those units.  The unit I put in for is a little easier to draw.  But I still won't draw it.    I almost did put in for 14.

This is my first year putting in for Idaho. I reviewed the odds and whether they were good or bad i put in for Unit 14 because I have access to a huge piece of private property down there. So hopefully I can draw. good luck to you all as well.

55 early is a unit that interests me so does 42 but it requires alot of time that I dont really have.  62 is on the decline and is overrated IMO... 44 and 45 are good but the best season is not a rifle one...

I dont have any interest in shooting a whitetail either...

So many choices... I also cant draw a tag that falls between Sep 20 and Oct 25th...

My top three are

1.  42 late

2. 11 early

3. 55 early

42 has always intersted me, have never been down to that corner of the state but I love that kind of country. .  11 Doesn't do anything for me I would rather put in for 14 or 18 similar country as 11 but both are easier to draw.  55 early would be an intersting choice.  Have been down there before and think that, that hunt could produce a monster in the velvet.  Don't know anything about 62.  I don't think that there is anything wrong with the season dates with 44.  But 45 is a little early.  A week later would be better in 45.

All I know about 67 is you need snow for it to be good.  The earlier either sex hunt in 67 has good odds though.

Of all the hunts you listed 55 would be my 2nd choice.  I think that it would be a great hunt, but it has tough odds.  45 would be my first choice.  I always put in for 45 if I have a good hunt lined up in another state.  But on years when I don't have any hunts lined up like this year I put in for another unnamed unit that has pretty good draw odds.

45 is great, but chances are, you will never draw.  A week later would always be better, but I can assure you from experience that the rut was in full swing the 24th of October last year!

44 is probably the best all around hunt when you consider draw odds and potential.  If you have never seen the migration out of 43 in early October, it is something to behold!

40/42 are great options, but if you really want to hunt it, go thru the outfitter draw.

11/14/18 are good options, but if you want to kill a 180" plus deer, I'd go with 11.   There is a reason it is tougher to draw.   Boulder Creek had a whitetail/mule deer hunt in 13 for $3800 this year.   That was a pretty good deal with the 50K private access.  A deal like that could produce a big deer.   If you are chubby, pick other units

jjhunter didn't you draw 45 last year?  Isn't there a 1 year wait in Idaho after a successful draw?  Check out page 73 in the Idaho big game rules.  There is a one year wait.

I just looked at last years regs.  That was an either sex hunt so you're good to go.

I dismissed 45 after the change in dates.  Too dependent on snow I thought.   I hunted 43 in October and was a little discouraged with all of the 4 wheeler access.
