capitol forest

this past sunday wife wanted to take her quad out and get a few miles on it to break it in.  between rain squalls was able to take this pic with my cell phone.  sorry about the clarity.  had a spot about 300 yards long that was tore up everywhere you looked.  tracks, hair and "recycled" remnants everywhere....dam bears do a number on trees.

We found some fresh peels like that in the Toutle last spring. They had just been made. Some went over 50' up with 360 degrees of bark peeled off. There were still big 3' foot sections of bark laying loose in the branches. I would love to get a video of the bear doing that!

if a porker then he was Boone & Crockett....almost 2 inches between the claws....had to stretch to get my fingers to imitate it....i'd love to have his mug stuffed on my gun safe !
