Just 1 of the reasons I love Wyoming the resource giving back to the resource. 50K or more a year buys a lot of feed and such.

The boy scouts auction was very interesting as most lots started out as 6.00 per pound. This year was a bit tight maybe due to the economy and over sea sales. On average they sold for 7-8 per pound. When a nice set of 6x6 came up (300+) match set could sell for much more. A nice 6x6 heavy which would weigh 17-21lbs would go for 7-8 per pound. I seen some big dog buyers using wheel barrels and several staff/family buying in bulk for 6.00 per pound from the private sellers.  These included nice 280 type brown #1 horn.  Obviously some of these guys have incredible shed areas mostly private to pick up.  The one thing I found interesting was a (FARM RAISED RANCH bull) with some incredible 400-480) type bull antler for sale.  They wanted 4-7 hundred per matched set.  They were not selling. I seen one guy with a monster farm private bull rack maybe 475 or bigger and he wanted 8K for that set. Several guys just laughed. I notice bull moose horns were the big ticket item. I guess due to the ART/CRAFT type artists.  The best thing I ever seen which I regret not taking a pic of because it was my wife and I 3rd trip to the auction that day was an old big horn ram who died (or was placed between trees) and the scull grew into a tree. It was awesome, the guy told me he was walking over to a shed and noticed something in a tree about 6 ft up. He looked and seen a skull. He said he has been offered 15 K for it. He decided to keep it. The reason I didnt take a pic was it wasnt there most of the day. I returned to the sale later in the day to see if prices came down and he had it out there then. I didnt have my camera on that walk through. The trip is awesome and I recommend it to anyone. They had a chili cookoff on sunday and my wife and I walked above the elk Refuge into the national forrest and seen tons of elk.
