« on: June 01, 2010, 02:58:31 PM »
Hi folks.

Anyone have any tips about id'ing a boar over a sow other than cubs (or nuts).  Or have a recomendation on a resource where I can find this info.  Thanks again.

Easiest thing for me is to see them from the side.  A sow will look like a pear, most of her size will be located behind the ribs, lots of hips.    A boar will generally look more proportional from shoulders back through the hips.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Exactly!  A sow is going to be all hips and a boar will have longer looking legs. If it looks like a fat blob it is usually a sow. A boar has more length to him in every way, neck, legs, torso.

Thank you to all those that responded especially Stik...  Not sure if I would even shoot a boar or not but at least I know what to look for.  Thanks again and good hunting.
