XD(m) trigger job
« on: June 04, 2010, 03:14:10 PM »
So since we were talking about it recently I decided to do a trigger job on my XD(m) 9mm but unfortunately didn't think to take any pictures...I used a Springer Precision kit and it went together pretty easily and removed most of the pre-travel (still has about 1/8") and most of the engaged travel as well (also down to about 1/8"), trigger pull is about 3.5lbs now and is significantly cleaner. While apart I stoned the auto-takedown bar that rides against the disconnector, striker safety plunger and striker engagement face. I ran 100 rounds through it last night and it appears to be as reliable as always!

My final opinion on the kit is good, I wouldn't dream of owning another XD without at least changing out the disconnector which is what gets rid of most of the excessive movement. Total trigger movement is now at about 1/4" total, I had it at about 3/16" initially but the trigger safety wouldn't reset about 5% of the time. I may still shorten the engagement surface on the striker just to try and clean it up a little further. It still isn't a match trigger but it's one hell of a lot better than stock!

ETA: Shortening the engagement distance on the striker and relieving the angle made a noticeable improvement.

The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.
