Thanks for the input!  I have set up the same day, since I am scared that someone will take my stand when I am not around, but yet I leave a trail cam out for weeks at a time :rolleyes:  I might just try that for upcoming bear season.  Someone also stated that to leave the pads off or a bear will rip it up.

I vote for the stand.. Had a buddy that baited, back when it was legal, and had a bear hot on his bait. He kept sitting on it but no bear... the bear was hitting the bait after he left... He put up a tree stand and the next day he wacked it... He was just 10 ft up but the bear should walk around the bait smelling for him the bear apparently took off when he smelled him and or waited till he left.  :twocents:
