First bull tag ever Alkali Muzzy
« on: June 21, 2010, 05:15:05 PM »
Well after 7 years of applying i finally drew a bull tag for alkali. I'm stoked :whoo: Anybody ever draw the muzzy tag there or hunt elk there with any other tags? Any info/tips would be appraticated. Thanks

Had it last season.  Scout the northern and southern boundary units and look out for buzztails.

Just curious, would you have put in for this tag if there were more than 2 options for Eastside ML Bull?
hey, where's Professor Chaos? Anyone seen him?

was just checking since tag odds were 1 in 6.5 in 09 and I imagine it was much more difficult this year being that there were only two options.

I found a couple of spots out there last year that had bulls in them, just not while I was there.  even found a wallow in the middle of a bare desert.  Let me know if you want a little help on a scouting trip.  It's less than 5 min from my door.

I have spent some time in Alakali - the one thing about the elk is that they are nomadic - can be in one place today and miles away tomorrow.  The other thing is the pressure from the surrounding private land.  The opposite is true - nothing today and they can be pushed off of the private land to the Training Center tomorrow.

My advice is to spend as much time as possible and glass constantly/

Good luck
