Question!  Can or would the WDFW get DNA from wolf poop?  There's poop every where, seems to me they could get DNA from several different areas say in the Methow and get a better idea how many packs were around.  Does it have to be hair with a picture?

no idea on that one....... I know hair with follicles is easiest other than blood samples for extracting dna.

Very good question.  I don't know the answer, but it would probably give you DNA to what was eaten....

yes you can get DNA from poop.

Then it would only take one WDFW person a few days to DNA the Methow Valley, find out how many related wolfs and where they hang out. Think of all the thousands of $$ that would save over the way they are doing it. And the prey animals it would save when they found out there was already enough wolves to start a season on them. I don't think they REALLY want to know, do you?
