trail cam spots for deer and found alot of peel !! ( Pics ) UPDATED!!
«

Found about 20 trees peeled up in an area all within 30 yards of each other. I was out with a 10 lb bag of oats and a 10 lb bag of corn and barley sweating my *ss off hiking around found these about 5 miles into my hike and said you know what I'm putting the cam here! Hopefully i'll get the best of both worlds and get the deer i was looking for and a bear or two. I saw alot of trees that were peeled very low near the base of the tree with branches still intact about above the peel. Does that mean its a really smal bear ? Wasnt sure what to make of it. Let me know your opinions.

Good looking spot. Did you hang a cam in the area?

Yeah i was out for looking for a spot to put it, found this and said Yep this is where it's going. I've never left my cam out for more than 48 hours. But I'm pretty sure this spot is far enough of the beaten path that it will be alright. knock on wood.

I recognize that area. There are quite a few bears around there.

Yeah really really fresh!!! I touched it it was wet. I could actually smell the musky scent of the bear, it was kind of freaky.
Had the 12 gauge with me loaded up with rifled slugs so that helped . I'm willing to bet i'll have pics on that cam of that bear within an minutes to an hour of when i set it.

I would say mid range bear, by looking at the claw pattern. May take a day or so, but he will be there! Good luck!

most girdling is just at the base, those marks on the tree are teeth marks, made by the incisors..they scrape with them..good find..
