I am a little reluctant to post this, but I need an opinion on what I was hearing.
I sat on my trail yesterday, and seeing some fresh tracks in the mud on trail on the way in, I was pretty hopeful.
I got into my little blind set-up and got comfortable and was there about half an hour when I heard what sounded like a deer "blowing" or "wheezing" at me, you know the sound...
Kinda like a quick "f-f-f-f-f-f-f-ttt", only thing was it was about 40 yards away, upwind, on the other side of a bunch of brush/trees, and kept doing it as it circled downwind, then stopped....
I was all alone with my thoughts for about another half hour when I heard some ya-hoo on the logging road on other side of creek shouting, then listened to them shooting a bunch as they walked to end of road and back out, almost an hour of shooting at whatever.

My day was pretty uneventful after that , played my stupid game on my GPS, and watched squirrels and birds, and a rabbit, until sunset.
Now comes my strange story, as I was walking out to my trail to where I park the truck, I would hear a noise every once in a while, about once every 4-5 minutes, it was ALMOST like the "sow moan" I had heard before (and researched on Internet) but was shorter, sounded more like a bullfrog in a 55 gallon metal drum, like a deep "B-R-A-A-A-p" , or long burp, I tried to mimic it on my "Woodswise bear call" but lacked the depth and resonance, so I attempted to do it with my voice, and didn't do to bad, whatever it was increased in frequency, and we went back-and-forth, with me answering every time I heard it and it could have been my imagination, but it seemed to get closer, but stayed on other side of creek, and since it was pretty dark by now, I decided to get up the hill to my truck (another half hour hike), as I was climbing, I could still hear it, but back to every 4-5 minutes, and had decided it was some weird bull frog or something (even though I have never heard it before, and had hiked out of there at dark several times) when it made the noise again, but now it was long and drawn out, lasting almost 8-9 seconds before ending in a softer note, kind of tapering off in the end.
I have no idea what it was, but was curious if anyone had ever heard something similar, or has any idea what it could have been.
I won't claim it was a bear noise , although it was similar to sounds I had heard that I am sure was a bear, it was different enough to make me question.
I have heard some strange sounds coming from raccoons, but this was unlike anything I had heard before , was not a deer, elk, or anything else I can think of except maybe a mutant Bullfrog , but I have not heard any of those (lots of tree frogs) out in theses woods, the tone, volume, and deep resonance, makes me really curious what it could have been.
I am going there tonight and attempt calling from the other side of creek (where I had the close call before), and hope I hear it again and get a visual on whatever it was.
But thought I would ask for ideas, should I bring a frog-gig, or just regular broad heads ?
