Bull snakes
« on: June 13, 2010, 04:12:31 PM »
In the last few days I have seen a high number of bull snakes, all 3-4 feet long in the drive, in the grass, in the house. Two were stalking these chicks.

Yeah he wasn't happy, a little hissing. I got between him and a brood of chicks and he kept coming at me. Real close to 4 feet.

let 'em live...as long as the snakes aren't venomous, and bull snakes aren't.  for those that don't know...the pupils of a venomous snake look similar to a cat's eye.  non-venomous snakes have round pupils.  the only exception to this is the coral snake, which looks like a king snake, and can be identified by its color bands.  if i remember correctly, there is a limerick for that..."Red on yellow, kill a fellow.  Red on black, you're okay Jack."  It's doubtful you'll see any coral snakes in WA, it's not their natural habitat.  Rattlers on the other hand...very common in Eastern WA.

Great pics sako223! I would probably leave the bull snakes alone too unless they were a nuisance, heading for your chicks like that qualifies though.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

were did you get your info? by the way that quote on coral snakes is wrong too, there is more than one color scheme if you wanna call it that on coral snakes, and the thing with the eyes is completely wrong too, here is a pic of one of my non venomous snakes with out round pupils

i'd let them live but if they are killing your chickens then i kill them. as for the corral snakes color scheme stuff, that is way to much stuff to remember, i'd just kill them, or get away from them if i can just to make sure.
