local police station should do it for you. you fill out some paperwork and they take your fingerprints. it takes like a week to ten days or so to get you background checked

You can get them at the main county sheriff's offices.  I got mine in Maple Valley originally.  I renewed last year at the Seatac precinct.

Yep, police station, Had to set up an appt to get my prints taken (funny they already have them, and that time it did not require an appointment, story for another time).
Pay the fee in cash and 6 days later it was in the mailbox.
My other half did hers 2 days after me and hers arrived on the same day as mine.

Go to your local police department if you live within city limits. If not, you go to the sheriff's office.

I was in and out in less than 15 minutes...and it was in the mailbox 3 days later.
I left it better than I found it...did you?

When I got mine it was $50 and I was out the door with it in half an hour.

But, that has been 10 years or so and I need to get it renewed.  I've been told that can be a pain.

You have to start over after 90 day lapse.

I got mine last year in Kitsap County.  Quick and easy.  One complaint about them , though- why won't they make them the size as the drivers license so it'll fit in a wallet?
