Women in Hunting
« on: June 16, 2010, 08:03:18 AM »
Yesterday I got a call from Kelly Sorenson at HEVI-Shot (Environ-Metal, Inc.) in Sweet Home OR. Kelly is the new VP of Sales & Marketing for HEVI-Shot. Kelly is a woman. I must admit my inherent sexism jumped out as I was surprised to hear a woman's voice. However I quickly reminded myself that the CEO of CZ is a woman. The fastest growing demographic in hunting is female.

This is a great trend. Our beloved hunting traditions will die on the vine if we don't get some new blood into the sport. Women in hunting offers another important contribution that we don't often think about. When a son or daughter wants to start hunting they need to "ask your Mom." If Mom likes to hunt the answer is a resounding YES!

So guys, get your gals to the range and get them excited about the sport we love. Take them on a grouse or pheasant hunt and let them get used to the fresh air, the dog working, and the thrill of taking a bird in flight. Once you get them to that point, Deer, Elk and Turkeys are an easy next step.

I know we want to get away from our beloved wives and girlfriends sometimes and we need to do that for our own sanity. But, for the sake of the hunting tradition take your gals hunting and get them excited about it. Point to all the amazing woman entrepreneurs who are in the business, women like Kelly Sorenson.
Warning! Do not elect politicians who don't support the 2nd Amendment as the Constitutional framers intended - There are no Collective Rights in the Bill of Rights. America is about Individual Freedoms, not collectivism!
