Whisker Biscuit's on High Speed bows
« on: June 18, 2010, 08:45:13 AM »
Alright, so two years ago I was getting my PSE X-Force bow setup and had multiple people tell me that it would be nearly impossible to get a bow of that speed (chrono yesterday showed 293 fps) to paper tune with a whisker biscuit. Does anyone agree with this or do you think I will be fine to switch to the whisker biscuit. Right now I have a trophy taker fall away rest and since a lot of my hunting is done in the thick woods, I would rather have the whisker biscuit so I don't have to worry about my arrow falling off. Also, my arrow will jump off the rest sometimes when I draw which is either just me, or the fact that I might be having some nock pinch with the string, either way, these are things that I don't want to have to worry about when I draw back on my bull this year  :IBCOOL:

i shot mine with a biscuit before i got the trophy taker full containment and there is no way the arrow can fall off the rest best of both worlds. but you should be fine with the biscuit if you want one of those.

whisker biscuit will be fine. Check out some of the youtube videos about them, there aren't any accuracy issues.

I have a PSE X-Force SS with a whisker biscut - no problems tuning it and I killed an elk opening day last year! :IBCOOL:

Only problem I've noticed is with the longer draw length guys. I think because the arrow stays in the rest longer the follow through is much more critical. I'm talkin longer than 29 inch draw. Speed has really never been an issue that i've seen but then speed normally comes with draw length.
Shut up and Hunt!

I shoot a whisker biscuit on my 30" draw 07 black ice, have noticed that the type of fletching you use makes a HUGE difference. Once I found which one the rest wouldn't grab, its shooting great. WB can definitely effect the 2" blazers and anything with kickers like quickspins and helicals etc.

I shoot a whisker biscuit on my Elite.  No accuracy issues.  The guy at the bow shop that I bought the bow from said I may lose a couple of feet per second (in his opinion, WBs slow the arrow down), but it should not effect anything else...

I had a whisker on my Mathews Drenalin ( not the fastest bow ) for two years ( 29" draw ) and I fought that thing the whole two years. My bow was very tempermental ! I'm sure it had something to do with my form. I could shoot with my grip hand open or with my finger tips barley touching the grip and my shot was 4" to the right of the other. I switched to the Trophy Taker drop away and it took care of all my problems. I messed with that whisker for two years and never achieved any thing near the drop away as far as accuracy, consistency & forgiveness. I'll never go back. Mike

yeah the drop aways are a few fps faster and has been long debated that the drop away are better because of the group size but. i know he put one on his bow yesterday and its all tuned up and he shoot the blazers as well so i am sure he will be fine. just remeber to spray that thing down so it does not get wet and clumpy cause if i come down and call a bull in and you blame it on the new rest you getting kicked in the bean bag :chuckle:

Well I made the switch to the WB and so far am a lot more confident when I draw, but I am heading back to the shop tonight after work to get it fine tuned. It shot alright through the paper, but when at my range I can see some initial deflection with the arrow prior to the vanes straitening it out. I'll see how it goes.

Overall I was shooting 293 fps through the Chrono with the Trophy Taker and now that I have the WB and got the timing adjusted and tighted the bow to 71 lbs it is shooting exactly 300 fps. Don't know for sure, but I don't think the WB would've slowed it down more than 3-4 fps, hard to tell since those other things were adjusted. We will see how tonight goes.....

In my opinion there are so many better options than a whisker biscuit.  Two or three good drop aways come to mind.
