Bear boxes

Has anyone tried or had any luck with wooden bear boxes ?

Ummm have you seen what bears do to trees?  I dont think it would offer much protection. 
Hunting and Fishing are not matters of life or death... THEY ARE WAY MORE IMPORTANT!!!

there is a guy on here that sells bear boxes made of steel in the classifieds you might check them out. wood is not match for a bear :twocents:

Interesting that this came up.

I was thinking about making one out of wood that resembled a duck box. Not much protection from a bear, but might make it a bit safer from humans.

That is what I was thinking... We have trouble with the cows; they do a number on the flimsy plastic strap attachments.

They can work well if you run a bunch of 3" sheetrock screws through the sides from the inside out, like a hedgehog  :chuckle:

I'm thinking if they really want it a good rock or a stick is all they need to get it.
