Observatory Tag
«
on:
June 21, 2010, 03:01:29 PM »
Ive been lucky enough to draw observatory. I picked up my maps. I cant wait to lace the boots up and get to scouting. I would like to see if anyone on here has hunted it before and has pictures of anything?? I would just like to know experiences some have had with this hunt. Im not asking for hunting advice or places to go just want to hear some experiences and see some pics. Thanks in advance.

my family has hunted elk (rifle) in the manashtash and observatory units for 20+ years. It's been rapidly getting alot more gates, but if you're not afraid to go off the road you can see a decent ammount of big bulls. What tag exactly did you pull? i got the quality hunt observatory.

thats a good tag, ive seen some guys with some healthy sized bulls and a woman with probably the biggest bull ive seen in the unit. We see alot of big bulls, its a pretty nice hunt you just need to find a good look out point and let the 100's of guys looking for a spike kick the big boys around right in front of you. It's an extremely densely hunted unit.

I've hunted that 22 years wish I drew that! Lots of bulls but tons of people in rifle season.

If I'm not mistaken a 400" muzzy bull was taken out of that unit last year.

Good Job on the Tag! I also got one too. I was drawn for it about 10 years ago and killed a nice 6 by 6 so im going to try and improve on that. It is a great hunt.

i'm hoping we can get some rutting action going for our hunt. it will be lots of hiking, glassing, and listening going on that is for sure. my son who is 14 is pumped for this hunt. i'm hoping i can set him up in front of some bulls bugling and going at it.
