Houston we have a problem....
« on: June 21, 2010, 08:44:02 PM »
Bought this Redfield Revolution scope this last week and was told it would work on my .270 Savage, assuming they are correct, what ring's would work as the scope shaft is 1 1/2" shorter than the bases?

Weaver makes an offset ring that will solve your problem. It seems to be a common problem with Savages.

I don't believe different bases will work as they would block the cartridge exit without a ring the the Weaver Jackelope posted.

You could put one of those 1 piece bases that is a rail type mount and then put the rings anywhere you want on it, but they always seemed to be kinda cumbersome for a hunting rifle to me. Makes the access to the chamber that much tighter. I never liked them, I'm sure there's other opinions on them better than mine though.

Get a one piece (rail) mount and it will most likely work

I'll have to look into that, I have not seen that type of setup.

The one piece mounts are more stable and provide better accuracy than the 2 piece mounts . Thats all I ever use on my Rem 700's

I had the same problem with a Vortex scope on my Savage mdl 10 but that was a short action.
