So, finally drew my moose tag. Have little knowledge of the area, hunted whiteys once about 15 years ago in the colville area. Any members with wisdom, advise to pass on. I am studying everything I can. Plan to contact the biologist, and maybe timber companies to find out access issues. Also plan on trying to get over a few times this summer and then more in September as best I can around my fire department schedule and getting my 13yo out for his first bow hunt. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Am in no way a trophy hunter looking to top the books, but would like a mature bull. Still trying to learn what standards to look for in judging bullwinkle. thats great, a lot of moose tags and oil tags showing up. congrats and good luck can't wait for pics and story there is another form that i check out and a guy from there also drew a selkirk any moose tag.

Thanks to you both. I plan on doing a lot of research. My hunting buddy spent hours online today, he is just as excited as me.

Lots of land to hunt, find the clearcuts you will find moose

Have seen several nice bulls in the Kalispel creek area...I think that is in the Selkirk Unit. Good luck!! Lots of photos and please come back and post all the details...we all live through the few guys who draw moose tags.

I don;t think you will any issues finding a mature bull in the Selkirk. Good luck and take many pics, please come back and share your hunt with us.

My buddy's wife drew that tag a few years ago and shot a bruiser. They did a DIY hunt, but used the assistance of Bear Paw Outfitters. They will give you detailed maps of where there are big bulls. Because they are out in that area all the time scouting, they do a ton of leg work for you. It saves you a ton of $$$ in gas and time, if you don't know that area. They do charge $275 I think, but it was well worth it for them and they recommend it to anyone. Just a little FYI......Good luck and don't shoot a little one because there are big ones in there.

Ice, depending on Football game schedule, he will be there first or second day. Kids almost 5'11" and in good shape, I have a pack frame ready for him!

So, one more day of work on Tuesday, Pack the truck and camper on Wednesday, watch my boys first ever football game and then leave Thurday morning. Have 2 good friends, my dad and best of all, my 13yo will be with me opening morning. Mom said he could miss 2 days of school. Excited as a hell. Recent info through a friend on Friday has a really nice bull located that I plan to try and find Friday morning. Plan to take lots of pictures, hopefully video, and will post once I find success. Thanks again to everyone who has given me tips along the way. Hope I do justice to the group effort. Thanks Huntwa.

Coach, how is it they say you id Grizzly poop? Smells like pepper spray and has little bells in it.
