Got his tag and card in the mail, only thing left is the packet.  We went up shooting today for a couple hours.  Mainly the .17 and .22 but he did shoot the 308 alittle.  Going to take a drive  around the Methow tomorrow to knock on some doors for his fall turkey tag.

So?  :dunno:

How about an update? :chuckle:

I know they were going up near where my son tagged out but didn't see them.  Was not easy hunting - hope they got lucky.

Sorry on a late update.  We got into camp a day before season and went up to where we had scouted earlier on.  Still wasnt excited about the sign i was seeing.  We decided to abandon the game plan for the opener and go into a different area blind.  We were 10 minutes into the hunt and there is a big cow standing on the side of the grade.  I got Jeremiah set up and ready and it took off up the hill, we tracked it for 20 minutes or so and caught up with it broadside 30 yards in a meadow.  I couldnt get my 10 year steady enough to shoot.  This went on for three days, got within 50 yards of 4 cows and no shots fired.  We ended up seeing around 20 cows and 4 bulls.  Justin might have some pictures of the cows to post and i will dig up some of the bulls.  We are going back this weekend and two more weekends in November.

Keep at it, one of those will fill a freezer nicely. You may have to pack in a bench rest for him to shoot off of. :chuckle:

Do you use shooting sticks? They work great for kids. ;)

Get him some shooting sticks to use.  Definately worth it for the kids.  Heck - I use them myself sometimes...

Keep after them !  Good luck.  I picked up my son's moose meat from the processor in Spokane yesterday - It looks like we are going to be eating a lot of moose chile, taco's and burgers - that's a lot of meat.  The good thing for your boy waiting until November is it may be cold enough when you get one to hang it and cut and wrap yourself - $.89/lb. cut and wrap charge - ouch !
