I bought a new hatchet

so today i stopped at the harbor frieght in richland and they had this cool looking hatchet which I didnt need and most of harbor frieghts tools I think are junk but this thing look cool as hell and felt great in the hand so what the hell I bought it. well I get it home and immediatly go to work on a stump in my yard thats about 6" in dia. and it quickly wittles it down. ok maybe this thing was worth th 15$ bucks then I go to this apple tree Ive been takeing apart and 3" branches are easily wacked off w/ little effort hmm. not bad Then I sharpen it, and holy cow I go to town hackin up everything that needs it and somethings that dont. So over all a total impulse purchase turned out to have been a damned good buy and I am feelin pretty good about it!

I know its kinda gay looking but it really works well. It is VERY well balanced, and cuts as well as some full sized axes Ive used

But then I became the proud owner of a Puma White Hunter. This knife is an older design from the early 40's. Mine is 1950's vintage. The back edge is adequate to chop bone or small firewood. I have gutted deer, bear and skinned animals with this knife. Some would say that it's a bit heavy to carry hunting or backpacking, but I don't carry an axe and it is much more useful than a smaller knife.

puma are fantastic, if you can get an older one as the new ones are no longer made in germany.  My buddy just picked a sweet older switch blade model on www.egun.de for 175euros.

I bought one of those for my blazer. I like to have an ax in the rig when on the back roads and I thought the pick end would be good for digging. The first time I used it was last winter when I got the blazer stuck in some ice ruts. When I was trying to pry some ice sideways I broke the handle. The ax is made in Germany and is of good quality, but I need to find a new handle for it.
