What is this?
« on: June 25, 2010, 12:48:55 PM »
We need some ideas on what this might be. I think I know what it is, but would like some other opinions. After this picture, the camera was rotated about 1/4 of the way around the 15 inch tree it was bungee corded to, and it was crooked. It did end up with one picture of a deer 3 days later. It had been out there about 3 weeks, when I picked it up today. This picture was taken on the 3rd day.

with the foreleg in the bottom of picture, I would rule out deer or elk, but it is definitely sniffing camera. I vote bear due to color of fur.
I know it is flash/night picture, but this is an Elk nose for comparison...

Definitely bear.  I've been worried about a bear getting that cam.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

You can see the nose and the black hair on the front leg.  I'd say it was a bear.

OK, I thought it was a bear too. I think we reached a concensus. Thanks for the opinions.
