We must have been close to you. Hunterman Tony and I and somefriends went bass fishing in the same spot on the rockpile. We had 50 some bass;5 ling cod and about a 25 pound halibut but wished we would have brought our salmon gear. Was sure nice ocean the last couple days.

Sounds like some great fishing! Family and I are planning a trip in August. We are trying to decide on Ilwaco or Westport.

heh, you stole my line.

Nice fish - it looks like a great time.  I get out there every few years to fish but it's fun every time.  I need to make a more concerted effort to go (I'm in Eburg and it's a pretty good drive.)

The further back I can mount them the better, IMO The reason is you can turn sharper and not worry about hitting the engines with the cable, gets expensive lol, you also want to run a 12lb. ball minimum, I like 14lbs keeps the line more true, but it also depends on the tide or rips the deeper you go the less true your line is. Thus the heavier ball.
