Not too good right now, it's better during season.

Not to thread jack (although it's not really thread jacking, I guess).. I'm considering turkey hunting next spring but I've never done it, and never known anyone who actually goes out. That being said, I'm curious if you have any basic tips for beginners? How to get out and scout, how to hunt, big time do's and don'ts, etc. If the OP is new to turkey hunting I don't think he'll mind me asking
Thanks!

1) Where do you live? 2) Where are you planning on hunting?
Usually helps to get involved with your local chapter of the NWTF (Turks'R'Us). I did 5 each two hour basic turkey hunting clinics in 3 weeks this spring (2 @ Cabelas in Olympia, 1 @ Wa Waterfowlers in Tacoma, 1 @ Wellspring Christian Outdoorsmen in Gig Harbor, & 1 Wholesale Sports in Silverdale) ... in addition, two friends did 1 at Outdoor Emporium in Seattle, and another friend does some in the general Tacoma/Puyallup area. I know there are also ones usually done in the Southwest Wa and Eastern Wa areas. Also tons of good info on past posts on this website, and also some good articles posted on tacomanwtf website & in the posts on their forum (also national NWTF website). Tons of books, videos, etc available also.
Answer the two questions and I'll get you more info on local NWTF, pocs in your area, clinics, etc.

1) I'm in Mountlake Terrace, so just south of Everett,
2) I'm not really sure.. I don't hunt big game so I don't know where I can/can't head out. At this point it's preliminary research, but it would be good to go to a clinic or two.
Still working on my duck hunting, but might give turkey a shot for something extra to do in the spring to get my bird fix. Thanks for any help you can give me - much appreciated.

The closest NWTF chapter to you is at "Smokey Point" .... POCs are available at "wanwtf" website.
There is also a Lake Washington chapter in Issaquah area --- Local Pres. is Len Brandt of Maple Valley (also current State Board of Director Vice Pres & former Stae BOD Pres) does the clinics at Outdoor Emporium. POC available at "wanwtf" website also.
If that doesn't get you there, PM me and I'll look up the poc's at home when I get a chance.
Most turkeys (70 to 75%) are harvested in the NE corner of the state (Stevens, Ferry, Pend Orielle counties) and there is a fair amount of public land.
