-Anybody use the CCI four wing musket caps? I wanted the German Musket caps but couldnt find them and was wondering how these worked out for you guys??

The only proplem I had with them is they got screwed up in the capper and jammed up.

have used them they are just fine but sometimes like said hard to get threw a capper at times

I didnt see them just the #11's, but i didnt ask either, the outdoor sports shop just had the cci musket caps. On the tin it says for reinactment so i didnt know if there for oregon trail days type guns or Hunting inlines? Im hoping to find the german musket caps somewheres around here, there the ones I want to use!

The CCI's at Joes work just as well as the german brand.

Have you tired bobs in Longview? I'll be in Cabela's tomorrow, I'll check if they have them.

I don't like the cci's. They seem harder to put on in a hurry. I don't know it seems like the german ones have more punch. Be patient you will be able to find the german ones. I always seem to.

Not saying that I know every product Cabela's sell, but I actually work there and when folks have muzzle loading question I'm often the guy who is asked to answer all of there questions. I yesterday I went on a search, and I came up empty handed!! No german musket caps.

So the next question you all may have for me is why did it take me 2 years to figure this out

, I stocked up on the german caps a wile back and haven't needed to buy more! When shooting at the range I use #11's for there easier to come by and cheaper and may use just a few musket caps just in case they shoot differently. Typically when I help customers, most of them are looking for the CCI #11 mag which we carry and the folks looking for the musket caps don't complain about the CCI's and I've never paid much attention to the brand I was handing them.

I'll try the tell the big man that we need to get these German ones!!! No promises, Corporations are slow, and the bigger they are, seam like the slower. Mabye we do carry them, and we're just out of them right now...I swear I've seen them there

I have use the musket caps since I started using a muzzelloader and highly recomend them. I have shot 6 elk, a buck and a cougar with my 50. cal. What I have found with the capper is to not fill it full. If there is enough space they will not jam up. and in a realistic hunting situation you will not need more than a couple of shots. ( I did have a wreck with one elk that did take more than a couple) bu t that is the extream exception. If you are concernedjust buy 2 cappers and put 3 or 4 in each. As far as german or others I have not noticed any difference.

that is a very good point i also only put about 6-7 caps and never max out the cappers they work better no jammed full

The German caps you are referring to are RWS caps made by Dynamit Nobel. Both the #11 and Musket's are best of any out there IMO. I stocked up too got 4000 or so in the safe

Just doing some research on musket caps vs #11 percussion caps and found this.

I used to use CCI caps but have had a couple missfires. I only use the German musket caps made by RWS for about the last 3 years now.

I picked up a couple boxes each of the RWS #11s and Musket caps at Wholesale Sports in Federal Way a few weeks ago. I happened to be there as they were putting them out. You might try giving them a call to see if they have any in stock or expect more in.

I have not had a chance to try them yet, but I have heard a lot of folks are very happy with them.

RWS musket caps = gooood sh&&&t

I have used RWS for many years. I thought I would go back to CCI and had Five in a row not go off. Nothing more frustrating than sitting at the range waiting to see if it is a hangfire or not. I have never had a RWS cap not fire. I will use ONLY RWS.

About 5 yrs ago I used musket caps along with several friends of mine.. For me that lasted about 2 weeks.. First one that fell off the nipple was it for me.. We tested #11's and musket caps to see if tere was a velocity difference.. I figured a hotter ignition would result in a more consistant burn and be faster.. But I figured wrong. They shot the same..

Pards still run M-caps.. I like *censored*t thats bullet proof. #11's do the job just fine.. I live on the wetside and if ya don't keep your powder dry it don't matter what the heck your running..

muskets just have more fire is all. i think it was posted a bit ago that the musket caps are 3 times hotter then standard 11 and 1.5 times hotter then the mag 11's. i will only shoot musket caps i have had nothing but probs with the 11. so i switched to the musket caps about 5 years ago and will never go back. my main muzzleloader is a bolt action so no way for the cap to fall off. the slide action guns like my black diamond is a little harder to keep the muskets on but i just pinch them a little with a multi tool and they stay on that gun great.
