No - but before the drawing I did some research.  Try googeling turnbul, there is some info there.

I would say it is a small enough area and you are cloes by.  Just make some trips up and do some hiking around -= the elk there sound like cattle and should be easy  to score on.

Good luck

Just remember, if you shoot one with a leaded bullet you have to reove the gut pile.

I haven’t hunted it (no one has) but the hunting area is so small it’s likely that all the elk will quickly leave at the slightest pressure.  I don’t see it as an easy hunt.

Congrats on the draw.

It won't be a bad hunt Shorthair.

There are elk that leave Turnbull, but there are also a lot of elk that won't leave.  They are doing this hunt for damage control on the vegetation and habitat.  The heard is reported to be roughly 200 head, but I have a friend that lives nearby that says that it is closer to 400.  He said the animals split up and there are roughly 200 head that stay near turnbull, but other groups that wander.  He counted 180 in their field a couple years ago during the winter.

there are some restrictions and limitations, but I think you will enjoy it.

They took academic biologists 2 years ago through turnbull in vans during hunting season and saw over 10 mature bulls and 50 plus cows in a little over an hour.

Go forth and enjoy.  Do you have the bull tag?  or a cow tag?

Cow tag for early muzzleloader

Shouldn't be too hard - ground isn't very rugged, somewhat open, and the animals aren't used to being pressured when on the refuge.
