HB 2438 - 2007-08
Making permanent a pilot project that allows for the use of dogs to hunt cougars.
Revised for 1st Substitute: Making permanent a pilot project that allows for the use of dogs to hunt cougars. (REVISED FOR ENGROSSED: Extending a pilot project that allows for the use of dogs to hunt cougars. )

Go to this link and send a message of support for HB 2438 if you approve of it. Many if not all self annointed "animal rights" organizations are making moves to have this bill vetoed.

Done-
If you do this the best way is to type the note in Microsoft word and USE SPELL CHECK.  Be polite and to the point.  We don't want to sound like a bunch of slack jaw rednecks...even though some of us might be  :P

Is this pilot program just for the 5 county area in NE WA or is it going to be a statewide county pilot program.  I heard both and was wondering what the other people thought before I write what i want to write.  I was under the impression that it was for the 5 county area, but other counties throughout the state could join in if they wanted to?????   I just dont see if that is the case that wildlife management should be driven by county politicians who know nothing about management.

Probably the same people that thought it was a good idea to burn down the houses in Woodinville.

If other counties can prove that they have a legit concern and have had issues with cats they can try to get into the program.  I suspect much of the documentation will be the "Cougar Incident Reports" from the WDFW- if they're not seeing enough of them from the county, it's unlikely they'll join.  I would also hope that the county biologists are invloved in the process, not just the politicans.

And the good news is that Governor Gregiore did indeed sign the bill and it's now law. Kudos to all you who wrote, made telephone calls or otherwise worked to get this legislation passed.
