lee case trimmer

I bought a lee case trimmer today, the people at cabelas talked me into it but before i open the package I'm interested if anybody else has used it. O, its the one that you can use with a drill to trim the case down or turn it by hand.

That is the one I use.  I always recommend that one to anyone asking about case trimmers.  So simple and easy to use.  I think you'll like it.

Tell me how you like it after a couple of thousand cases. Electric trimmer is my choice by far

I use them for my .223 and 30.06.  I like them.  It goes fast if you chuck it in a drill.  I use a flat bottomed cordless, and it can stand on it's own.  I hold the drill sideways, so that I can use my thumb on my left hand to activate it, and the right hand to hold the cutter. Just chuck the shell holder end, and it makes pretty quick work.  It helps if you get the other end  with the ball on the end.  Less cramping of the hand.  You may notice the shell holder end seems to "wobble" when it's turning in the drill.  Lee indicates that's normal.  The cutter ends up "wobbling" with it, so the mouth ends up getting trimmed flush.

I used them for .223 and a couple pistol cases.

Most of my rifles I trim by hand to the exact length I desire...but the lee's are great for mass production and plinking rounds.

I bought a lightweight cordless lithium ion drill for a power source.
With the drill in one hand and the cutter and an rcbs deburring tool in the other, I can trim/deburr/chamfer as I sort my sized brass. It's much, much faster than any other method I'd tried so far--once you get a rythmn down. For the total investment ($7 for the cutter, and $5 for each length gauge and shell holder) you can't beat them for functionality.

They work well for 50BMG plinking loads as well...and are 1/10th the price of a trimmer for the big .50.

Thanks for the input guys, like Bscman said they are cheaper than a traditional case trimmer so i wasn't to sure. Any how I tried them out yesterday and it worked better than I thought.

I bought the Lee Anniversary Reloading Kit. It said it comes w/a case trimmer. I just looked at the case trimmer and I have to buy the stuff for each caliber I have. I just ordered them and it looks like a good case trimmer.

Used that for years. A little hard on the hands and fingers but it gets it done. I upgraded to RCBS power trim last yr an love it.

The Lee approach is a little kloogy but it gets it done.  I like the fact that I don't have to adjust a trimmer between calibers.  My biggest knock against the Lee is that it sometimes will not trim down to the length I want (.010" below max).

i have a rcbs i use for almost everything but i use the lee case trimmer i have for my big guns! and it works well.
