photo noob; have a question
« on: July 07, 2010, 03:05:50 PM »
so my parents got me a canon sx20is for a graduation/birthday gift. just got back from yellowstone, used the new digi extensively prolly took close to 1000 pics over the week. got a lot of pics of animals some turned out great some ok and some not so good.

what would everyone reccomend as for a point and shoot setting for critters, i was mainly using the landscapes setting and sometimes the auto function. im slowly learning, from reading articles, how to fully use the full manual mode of the cam.

thanks everyone
Steve

If you can shoot in RAW, which I am unsure if that camera can or not, I'd shoot in AV set with maxzimium aperature of the lens.  NOW, again not sure of that camera if it has aperature priority.  If it doesn't I'd be the first to admit I shot in fully auto mode for the first 20 years of my life, and got a lot of good pics.  Generally thats the green square on the dial or ia maybe....   I would not shoot in landscape mode.
