Thats very true. When a guy researches an area for a good hunt and less pressure with no ATV'S ALLOWED then get's his hunt blown by some jack ass on a bike, That's what I mean by keep it legal.

We have all broken or bent the law, whether it be hunting laws or the laws of the land, many times so again I say GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE.

Speak for yourself. Not all of us have. I'm not taking sides on this pissing match but this statment rubs me the wrong way. What the heck are laws of the land anyways. Jiberish.

Theres over a million acres of roadless land for you to hunt on, why do we have to give up the small areas that we have left to ride on?  So what if you hear an atv while you are hunting, the animals usually don't really care.  I see hundreds of animals and get good photos of a lot of them from my atv.  Think about it, those animals are born and raised with the sounds of vehicles, chainsaws, logging trucks, heavy machinery etc.

You shouldn't have to give up anything. I think there should be areas and there is for that kind of use and area's with out that kind of use. So we have a choice on where we go with out having it screwed up. Some off road vehicle users have little to no respect for the resource and other hunters. The ones that do should slap there hoggie ass's.

Yeah, and there are lots of a$$ hat hunters tah give us bad names too  :bash:

If you want to hunt where there is no OHV use, go to the wilderness, lots of land there.

OK, I am in....I hunt roadless areas, atv areas and gated closed road areas. when I see a guy riding in a roadless area it pisses me off to no end, if it is a gated road, I get it that I should have hunted deeper or parked in front of wher the fence is cut, but I still can't believe that someone can be sharp enough to fill out an aplication for title but can't read road closed. when I hunt an atv freindly area I know that I will be buzzed with quads I don't mind.....I knew it going in.

I guess i equate it to the path of least resistance...If there is an area accessible to 4x4 or atv they are gona be there legal or not... I have been in the timber with deer with an atv driving by... Their attention was absolutely on the ATV and not me... So does it suck when you ride your bike in then have an atv buzz you? Yup had it happen to me.... Next time will i spend more time off the road than on it? you bet! the road less traveled is more interesting anyway..  :twocents:

I love my grizzly, my kodiak and my DRZ 400. I use them when I can and where I can. If I want to hunt and not be bothered I get off the road over the mountain and through the snow to grandmas house.

If you want to hunt where there are not any then learn about the machine their capibilities and find an area where they cannot be wether legal or illegal. I have found many areas that is completely unaccessable for a quad, dirtbike, jeep or a hover craft.

I personally don't ride my ATV during hunting season on forest circus roads out of respect for the guys that travel all the way over here to hunt. But, I do ride it on timber land that is gated because it is allowed if it has not been gated. That's double speak like a politician. I can go on timber land here that is not gated on one side, but is gated on the other side to keep out trucks and cars. So, if I see a guy that's hiked in a long ways and he bitches at me for riding my ATV, he's completely wrong for being pissed because he didn't do his home work. Besides, we ride our ATVs here all the time and most guys are here for a few days and don't know what's, what.

if your on a green dot road.dont go off it.for me thats how i get around i was in an area this year that was tore-up only a jeep or atv could go up it the problem i see is when it rain's and the traffic just keeps spining their wheels thats when the ruts start and that is useally due to the wrong tire's for the area.you dont need mudders for a rocky/little mud u need a good allterrane tire and like i read know your area.
to the guys that go where there not suppoed tobe will they deserve what they get and it is useully the peaple that dont know the area.not just one group.it the ones that dont know and when some one confrounts them they get testy and if every one did their home-work they would find that animals might cross where they least expect it not driveing off the road becuse you dont want to walk to where you hunt.if you have that hard of a time then learn to hunt the terrane to get to your spot. :twocents:

pjmcbride,
In the Curlew area, you cannot ride ATVs on the forest circus roads. We have a couple of places that you can. I misunderstood your PM.
Conconully is the very best for ATV riding. It's actually legal ther if you have helmets and ORV stickers.

People who think the way THEY hunt is the ONLY way to hunt. Thats who needs the help. For f sake get off your high horse. People hunt differently just like people dress differently and eat differently anl like different kinds of music. YOUR way is good for YOU! I already know your response is going to have the word "illegal" in it but save it. We have all broken or bent the law, whether it be hunting laws or the laws of the land, many times so again I say GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE.

so it would not bother you if someone flys up in a helicoptor and blasts the critter you were after?

c'mon! the law is the law, follow it or get the punishment. there is a place for all methods of hunting, why be an atv hunter in a roadless area? oh, that is right.....to try and gain an unfair advantage over those who have the salts to pack in. your defense of slob hunters is gonna really do you well here.

heck, if a guy is gonna ride in a roadless area he might as well bring his spotlight too.

atv's are a great tool for hunting and scouting, but they need to be used in accordance of the law, otherwise we will be handing the wilderness nazis more fuel for their cause.

just do what is right, if you do not like what is right, lobby against it......but don't try to make your own rules for public land, you are screwing us all.
