saw our first one this year exactly 5 hours ago at 4:20 this afternoon.....was driving in to our area scouting and came around the corner about 1.5 miles away from our "hot spot" and saw one standing in the middle of the road.  he/she was on the edge of some timber and an overgrown clear cut and ran up the road about 100 yds before it took off into the brush...i guess it was about 175 lbs but it had really long legs that were flyin fast to put some distance between us....that'll get the heart pumpin...man I luv me some bears !  cool thing was my cousin was driving and the wife was in the back seat and that was the first bear she saw in a few years and she was pumped...now she wants to pull the trigger and hopefully it works out for her this year...she's never shot a bear

The spot I like to hunt has been getting hit pretty hard the last few years and this spring they started logging in one area again.  I'm going to have to start scouting and find an easy way in to some of the spots I found this spring.

I'm with you all.  Can't wait.  Hopefully I can get out and scout this weekend............I've convinced a buddy to take me in on horses this year to see if there are any bears in the high country.   :)

Gotta wait two extra weeks in my area this year. Damn WDFW!!!!!
Hope my bears dont get too lonely waiting for me!
what the hell is the logic behind moving the opener out two weeks in the Mashel?
Surely WDFW must have had a logical reason for this????

I would like to know how many of you have actually called in a bear...I have blind called numerous times without a response. If this does work does it work anytime or is it just a spring or fall thing?

looking forward to the opener. hoping to see one this year. still dont really have a place picked out, just kinda looking for bears while focusing on scouting for elk i guess. i find lots of berry bushes but never see any sign. bears should be in the area but dont seem to be.  :dunno:
