Headed to the Blues for some scouting this weekend
« on: July 12, 2010, 10:38:28 AM »
The new wife and I are headed to the Blues to get away and do some scouting. Guess we are calling it a honeymoon. First weekend in a while without kids. I know what a cool wife to go on a weekend getaway calling it a honeymoon and scout for elk. I am lucky.

Bluebull I was wanting to meet you up there the next weekend but realized I am changing days off that weekend. I think we are going to stay in Dayton and drive in from there because Dayton might have more things to do other than scouting. What do you think?  Both have a Bar and Grill. Would like to cross paths with you.

let me know where you'll be and we'll meet up. I'm going up to help a friend who's building a cabin but I'll be out lookin for critters too.

You have to stop and eat at Woody's if you go, they make some good food!

Where should we stay Pomeroy or Dayton?  Keep in mind the new wife is coming. We would like to go sit in a pub like setting Saturday night listen to some music and have a couple drinks.

Not much in Pomeroy.

There's a motel (not sure about the ammenities), the tavern, a drive in, a restaurant and 3 coffee places.

I'd stay in Dayton, there's a motel, not real fancy but it's cheap. Woody's would probably where I'd hang out.

Great that's what we will do then. Do you have the capability of getting a PM at the cabin so we can connect?  We will be over mid day Saturday.

About a month ago Woodys wasnt serving alcohol. Im assuming it was just a temp suspension, just a heads up.  :dunno:

Since you mentioned this will be your "honeymoon" there is also the Weinhard Hotel,  your new wife might enjoy it more http://www.weinhard.com/index.htm

Blue Mountain Motel gets the job done though

The new mexican restaurant in Dayton is good also.  If you like microbrews stop in at Laht Neppur in Waitsburg and grab a growler.

I was thinking you knew a taxi named Charlie who once hunted the wenaha all by himself and there was a runamuc that would update his story as he was hunting. I must be mistaken.

Headed up tomorrow afternoon, spend the night, and come home Sunday morning.  Get a good dusk and dawn in that way (and a chance to try out the new tent).
