anyone ever fish for anything other than trout in Rufus? I hear there are monster Perch and really nice Walleye in there too? am I mistaken or are they there?
I've never caught any big perch consistently, but on average have done pretty well over the last few years fishing for walleye there. I've only fished out of the Seaton's Grove launch below Grand Coulee Dam - up there, it's more of a river than a lake, where I've registered currents upwards of 6 mph on the GPS. Current flow will determine your fishing method and where you go. Walleye can be found from the deadline below the dam (the bridge) all the way down to Chief Joe, but I've never had reason to go much below the set of netpens on the Nespelem bar.
PM me if you want to target them-
I'll agree, the trout fishing ain't what it used to be. When walleye was slow, we'd fool with them until a current flow change would get us back on the walleye. Not unusual to catch 20-30 in a couple of hours up there when you found them concentrated in a bay. My biggest was only 8 lbs, but I've seen some hogs. Now, I actually have to work for them, which actually keeps the walleye gear in the water more... if I'm going to have to actually work for a fish, it's going to be the target species-
