Georgia Bruiser
« on: March 27, 2008, 09:18:30 PM »
Going through some old photos in my photo bucket.  Here is a pick of a Georgia Bruiser.  This deer was on his way down hill.  I wanna say this deer was atleast 8 years old.  He was shot at the end of the rut and he had been running the does pretty hard.  You could see his back bone and hip bones.  Deer weighed over 250 on the hoof and we figgure close to 300 befor the rut.  The average buck in GA goes 175.  I've only seen 4 go over 250 and they were healthy.

Deer had a 21 inch neck right behind the ears off the carcas.  Over the hair it was 22 1/2" and 26" at the swell 3" down.  This deer is missing the bottom part of his ear on the right side.  Also has about a 6" long mane down his back.  Very unique deer for sure.

Ive killed a LOT of GA deer...  probably 25 bucks and none were over 175 live weight... so thats an AMAZING GA deer.

course its hard to make it over 175lbs as a suckling.

Great work Michelle! You may be my next taxi, even though you are 60mi or more away!
Seems unique to have a mane doesn't it?  Not a lot of experience with whities, but never see a 6" mane...... :dunno:

A deer with a six inch mane? You mean like a horse?

Yeah pretty much.  It started just in front of the front shoulders, made a swirl, and went up the neck.  Wish I would have gotten pictures  :bash:

I've actually mounted 2 deer, that I can remember, with manes.

Great mount, nice deer.  I have never seen or heard of a mane before.   Different.  Moose, now they have a mane.  Maybe he's part moose.
