Never around during season

I have only caught him on cam in the spring early summer but never during season hence why he is so big I guess

Wow, is that a Blue Mountains buck?  
Are you arechery hunting, or modern firearm?  If you are modern firearm hunting, and your trail cam is baited with mineral lick, then the reason he may be disappearing is because in my experience, they stop using those licks once they shed their velvet.  Had a big whitey coming into a mineral lick trail cam last year, until the first week in September, then he disappeared on us.
Your buck probably goes nocturnal as soon as the archery hunters start moving in.

Probably either the School Fire (2005) or the Columbia Complex Fire (2006), depending on what area he's in.

This buck last year was a 9x10 in velvet a few kickers. I should be going up the first part of august to see if he has been around. as far as a location well just say the Chelan area  been going to the same place 27 years some years we are hikers with guns other years we have to make two trips in and out to pack gear and bucks out. My Dads been going to the same spot this year will make it 62 years in a row so very traditional.

If he is there in the summer you will never find that buck there in the late season. He has moved on by then. If you want to kill that buck you need to take up archery.
