Kahlotus 381 late Muzzleloader
« on: July 19, 2010, 05:10:21 PM »
Did this hunt last year but came home empty handed :bash:.  Saw a good amount of deer but could never capitalize.  Anyone know this area well and have any pointers on where to focus my attention? Stay on the public land, feel free to hunt land or get written permission?  Thanks for the insight.

Oh great now I look like a shmuck,  just looking for some advice nothing major.  I did my share of research last year (gameys, army corps of engineers and biologists).  Probably need to go the local route.

Had this same tag in '07, hunted hard for a total of about 8 days, covered gobs of ground, saw tons of deer, buck to doe ratio was LOW, and I only saw one buck that I considered shooting. I hit it hard the first four days, hoping to catch the tail end of the rut, but no luck. Saw/hunted some good looking ground, but never could find the buck I was looking for.

Absolute gobs of private ground out there that is posted "feel free to hunt" or "walk-in hunting only", more ground available than a guy could hunt.

Good luck, with as many deer as I saw, and as much ground as there is out there, you'd think a guy could find a decent buck.

Locked up tighter than  :crap: .  I DID have permission to hunt a guys property but lost the rights to it.  Because some A-HOLE decided to retrieve his deer by driving his ATV through the guys winter wheat.  Now he wont let ANYONE hunt it.   >:(  Thank you 4 wheeler owners for once again ruining a good hunting area.   :mgun2:

I have hunted a few pieces of property over there the last few years and I will tell you this. The buck to doe ratio is horrible. Some days we would see over 150+ does and only see 3-4 legal bucks and a handfull of forkies and spikes. There are a ton of property owners that lease land for about $1,000.

The property that Clockemelk and I were hunting was owned by Rodger Peerson.
