Dead Centers

I'm a big advocate of buying the best bullets and usually those are amongst the most expensive. I've heard very good things about the dead center sabots. Who shoots them? I was planning on trying out the 260 gr. Any input?

i shot them until last year and when wdfw made copper jacketed an option, i switched to Barnes MZ Expander's.  The Barnes fly better than the Dead Centers out of my .54.  much tighter groups and 100% weight retention.

Tipped or not tipped?

Not tipped - it is the hollow point version.  They don't make a tipped version for the .54, but they do for the .50.

those i think are the elite hollow points i think is what they call them the dead centers are what i have shot for years with the poly tip, we have shot a lot of diffrent weights i hunt with the 340 as well as my cousin and my uncle shot the 260 they are by far the best lead bullet i have ever shot taken lots of game with them and have never let me down ever. my dead centers shoot a little better then the barnes tmz's i shot last year and i might switch back to them i am not sure i like them very very much.

wholesale sports/cabelas/ranch and home/wholesale sports some places only carry certain weights in them but all these stores carry them

Where do you buy your dead centers?

I really like the Dead Center bullet.  I shot the 300 gr Extreme Elite HP last year and got a nice 4 point mule deer.  I am going to try the 360 grain bullet this year.  I shoot a CVA Elkhorn Pro Inline 50 cal and they shoot real good with 80-100 grs of loose T7 powder.  I buy mine right from Precision Rifle.  You can find them on the net at prbullets.com

Dead Centers are made/sold by PR Bullet out of Canada. The owner is Cecil Epps. I've been shooting their 180gr QT bullet for close to 10 years and just recently bought some of the 260gr Dead Centers at Cabelas.  I also bought a new T/C Bone Collecter this spring plus a (24) pack each of Barnes 250 TMZ and the 290gr TMZ, some Hornady 250gr SST, plus an assortment of Harvester Crush Rib sabots.  If we ever have some decent weather around here, I'll head to the range to see what works the best.

I'll be interested!! I bought almost the exact same assortment as you did: Hornaday 250gr SST's, Barnes 250gr TMZ's, and Dead Center 260gr.

I have been shooting the 340gr Dead Centers (50 caliber) for the past 6 years.  I shoot a Knight Wolverine, stainless, with camo thumbhole stock.  With 110gr of Triple Seven FF powder, these provide me with consistant sub 2.5 inch groups at 100 yards on a bench with a peep.  The owner of PR Bullets, Cecil, is very knowledgeable and is willing to talk with anyone who calls.  I have tried the Powerbelts but they are just not as consistant.
