It's obvious they do not agree with the Washington wolf plan, just read the comments in this discussion, as soon as the state tries to delist, they will sue Washington just like they sue everywhere else.

The deal was 100 wolves in each state of Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, now look at those states with 3000 wolves and the wolf worshippers sued to relist them.

The feds had delsited Minnesota and Wisconsin but the wolf worshippers sued and wolves are listed again there too. There are 5000 wolves in the great lakes states and that is not enough for the wolf worshippers. I just returned from a family reuinion in WI/MN and not one person I talked to in 10 days there was happy about the wolves.

The best thing anyone can do is to oppose all wolves period at any point, because once wolves are established the wolf worshippers will sue to stop management and then wolves simply will multiply. I am forced to be opposed to any wolves for this reason.

Those are the facts and the responses here confirm the same story will play out in Washington. Not one wolf worshipper will put a number on how many wolves is enough.

AMAZING
Linda, the reason the wolves are dying in Yellowstone is pretty simple. The wolves over-populated, ate most of the elk and nearly all the moose, now they are starving and killing each other becuase even the wolves know there is not enough elk.

FYI - Man has the ability to manage animals so over populations do not occur. At any point biologists feel that there are to many elk, deer, or predators, man can adjust hunting seasons to establish better population levels. It has been working for the last 100 years very well.

LOL Why do you think Lewis and Clark almost starved to death crossing the west.... Because there were unmanaged predator numbers. By keeping all wildlife at sustainable levels the predators and man all fit into the modern environment.

This is precisely one of the many reasons wolves need mananged.

Unless you and everyone else on earth plan on moving to the moon, you are not even making any sense with this rant about (before man). LOL

Harold. . . read carefully. . . I said the fear of animals like grizzly bears keeps people from being slobs in the woods. Personally, I don't find grizzly bears very dangerous at all and would much rather encounter one than a miss guided soul who is so scared in the woods that he/she shoots at sounds. The rest of you are really stretching for your theories. . . where animals are relatively left alone they are self regulated by the environment. Where we have over populations it can be traced back to man. Lewis and Clark had trouble with food on Lolo pass due to the depth of the snow . . no self respecting elk used to hang out where snow was chest deep so they had left. Lewis and Clark were only in the area at the wrong time. I won't change any of your minds about anything I know because you have a clear agenda. . you want to have an elk and deer farm in Washington State for ease of hunting and predators are not welcome by those who hunt. I have read the complete journals of Lewis and Clark and you need to brush up if you want to use them in your arguments.

This facebook discussion is a good example of why we all need to stay after the wildlife commission and WDFW with facts about the effects of wolves. Every time I get a solid story about wolf damage or news release from a creditable authority, I forward it to the commission. We need 100 people doing this, even if it's the same stories, they will get the idea that many peole are concerned about wolves. No one can refute facts, they speak for themself, and the huggers have only emotion for an argument.

Wolf Education & Research Center (WERC) We have to remind ourselves that the people making these decisions are subject to 1) their own life experience (cultural and ancestral) and 2) political and financial pressure. I truly believe that there is commonality in this debate but it's like anything in the business world: identifiable interest. If we advocates alienate those in opposition to our perspective, they will unlikely embrace our positions. Being that is such a difficult endeavor, the natural reaction in our community is education of future voters, legislators, and activists.

So, being that we each know that, then WHY is it so incredibly difficult to procure funding for this work?

Hunters put their money where there mouths are---they form collaborative enterprises, special interest groups, and underwrite politicians who espouse their views. They are very effective at getting "sponsored" by recreational supply companies because of the sheer volume of financial income trading hands.

Ranchers are similar until groups like ours show them a way to do what is natural for them...protecting livestock and believe it or not, other animal species, including wolves. The rub in the ointment, however, is that there is no mutual interest with hunters who oppose wolves. Therein lies the real opponent and until we demonstrate the financial benefit of our position, it is unlikely we'll win this debate at the national level.

With that said, I have no "beef" against humans. I am one. And I marvel at the potential for good that humans have within us. But like anything, it is a choice. To say that "humans suck" betrays our real purpose as an amazing creation, regardless of what God or accident you attribute our origination to.

I take the position that using reason, stating factual evidence of our position, and being pro-actively willing to discuss this issue with everyone I meet will eventually produce a good result, especially when our efforts are multiplied by the impact of social media. --Chris

Evan O'Donnell I apologize for my comment, though the frustration is real. Why is it that we must work so hard to do good when it is so easy and easily accepted to do the wrong thing for so many? Our small victories are so small for the environment while the destruction is so great. It is so overwhelming sometimes. Again, sorry for my negative comment. I love the work that you guys are able to accomplish and look forward to more success stories in our future.
