Start your own tread about squirrels.  I wanted a serious discussion about the value of various camo and the whole UV issue but I guess that isn't going to happen.

I don't buy into a lot of the sales hype about camo and hyper realistic camo patterns-images. Break up the outline, use natural colors and natural materials when you can..wash what you got in UV killer soaps..I'm thinking a lot of the focus on camo is Industry driven, sales related.

Be stink free and quieter than what you're after.. :twocents:

Now if'n you're hiding from the man That's another story... 8)

Sorry, didn't mean to start a whole new topic.  I hope you at least got a good chuckle??

It really does not come down to camo at all..Deer have long been taken by men wearing a pair of blue jeans and a red flannel shirt.  Hunters orange appears to be more of a grey to deer which will blend in with the rest of there surroundings.  Most studies and professional hunter (who are not endorsed my mossy oak or real-tree) will simply tell you to break up your outline.  Does your camo really have to match your background? No but wearing clothing which breaks up your outline can help.  So what does this mean, if your required to wear hunters orange, they make the orange with black stripes which helps break up your outline and are typically not that much more $$.  Do you need every type of camo in every break-up that hits the marked? No, but if  your in an area where your more hunting a brighter or grassier area, then a dark pattern such as Mossy-oak may be too dark and you may want to say with lighter colors such as Real-tree or Sitka; and if your constantly in the dark woods, then stay away from the duck blind or wheat-field patterns which tend to be bright.

I hope this is making since and helps some.

Atsko sells UV treated hunting vest which I bought several years back. Got the vest and put it under a black light and it glowed like a pair of bluejeans washed in tide. I then took my black light to Jo-ann Fabric and found a particular orange that did not show any glow at all. I sent the vest back and talked to one of there customer service reps who really wanted the fabric codes. Did not give them to him!!

I have since then made several of these vests for family and friends who really like them for about 5 bucks a piece.

Just take an old vest as a pattern and then sew a border around the edge and then add some stretchy bands on the side.

I am still very comfortable with my manhood. Thank you
Molōn labe!
