Area's to throw Clays (Near Arlington)
« on: July 22, 2010, 12:11:21 PM »
So I have an automatic trap thrower with a remote foot switch but no area close to me where I can throw clays.  Does anyone have or know of an area, closer than Darrington, where a few of us could setup the thrower and get some practice in?  I would like a large field and I think it would be neat for us to bring our layout blinds and we could throw the clays towards the layouts to simulate birds coming at you, and we could move around to simulate birds crossing.  Lots of options just need an area big enough and close enough.  If you have an area I can bring the thrower and we can all get some practice in using real scenarios.

I don’t know of a field to setup your own thrower but the Marysville gun club has 16 yard trap, continental and a 5 stand.

I would mount it to the front of your boat and go hit the bay.  You will probably have to use #6 steel shot by the water, but that would be the quickest drive.  You can also hit the trap club in Stanwood or Smokey Point.

It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

That sounds like a good idea.  I could mix that in with some of my scouting as well.  I am going to shoot that box of Hyper's at a pattern board so I may as well pick up some #6 steel as well.

We did just that a couple weeks back.  I'll admit, it was a good time   :chuckle:

I have two boats so maybe throw from one and shoot from the other.  May even do it in our hunting spots how much closer to the real thing can you get. :IBCOOL:

Have the guys set up in one boat where they would hunt from and set up from the side and do the crossing shots.  Those will be more like passing birds.
