Alta rifle tag
« on: July 24, 2010, 11:11:56 AM »
Greetings!  I have drawn an Alta late rifle whitetail tag and was wondering if anyone has much experience in the Alta area for whitetails.  I've always wanted to get a nice whitetail, and figured this may be a great opportunity.  Any pointers?

I've been a reader of the website for a few years and have enjoyed reading the posts.  I've done a lot of hunting in entiat / mission units and I'm unfamiliar with the Alta area.  I've hunted whitetails in the northeast units before, but I never have tried the Alta unit.  With the extra options available this year, I decided to give it a try.

Well your best bet is to go knock on some doors for that tag.  The whitetail in the Alta unit are in the twisp river bottom and most of that is private.  You can find a few areas that are public, but they are slim to none, and most, including me are not going to give that info out.  Good luck to you and hopefully you stick around on this forum, if you share some of your knowledge you will receive a lot more replies on your post.
Will hunt for food.
