Wannacut. Anybody hunt it? How have you done?
« on: July 14, 2010, 11:45:09 PM »
My father-in-law lives up above Oroville in unit 209 Wannacut. The wife and I are going to head over there for the first week of bear season. Just wondering if anybody on here hunts that unit for bears and how they have done. Not looking for places to hunt. Just wondering how some of you have done if you hunt the unit. Thanks and good luck to all who are heading out for bear in a few weeks.

Cmon, NOBODY on here has ever hunted the Wannacut unit? I wasn't looking for anybodies honey holes or even specific areas. Just if anybody hunts it for bears and if so have they ever scored on a bruin in the unit?

I have hunted Wannacut a lot, both as a child and as an adult (younger adult, back in the 80's).  I never saw any bear in that GMU.  I am sure that there are bear in there, but not as many as in other places around.

My cousin, Butch, always took bear, every year.  But he went across the Okanogan over to Okanogan East and Sherman, especially the Lost Lake area...
Of sorrow and sickness I've known on my way,
But I'm old and I'm nervis,
I'm cast from the Service,
And all I deserve is a shillin' a day.

Thanks for the reply Ross. If nothing else it will be a relaxing week for the wife and me. Scoring on a bear if we do will just be an extra bonus. Once again, thanks for the reply and good hunting to you.
