Vortex Optics Dealer--ElkNut1
« on: March 08, 2008, 10:09:48 AM »

Hey guys, just letting all know that as of last week I signed on to be a dealer for Vortex Optics. I know many have heard of them as well some already own them. They are definitely very high quality for sure as I own many different ones myself including the Spotting Scopes. I will have more info on our Site as we get it installed but just wanted to give a heads up for now! Feel free to PM me or email me at  elknut@citlink.net  if you have any questions! Thanks!

Sweet.  Nice optics for the money.  One of the best values in spotters and binos on the market.

Yes, the Vortex line is as highest quality as one would could expect! Last year in 07 they were named Optics of the year in Outdoor Life Magazine, that's pretty cool!

As a comparison, take a top of the line Swarovski EL in 10x42, this is a very popular size, it sells in the neighborhood of 1700.00--1900.00 dollars. If one gets the opportunity compare them to the top of the line Vortex Razors, they are every bit the quality you would expect in a great binocular & will rival the Swarovski, they sell from us for 769.00 that includes shipping! They have a Lifetime transferable warranty that goes for the entire Vortex line, not bad huh? That's a good 1000.00 less & you sacrifice nothing!  Just food for thought!

I own 1 of their Sandpiper spotters.  A great value at 330 shipped (when I purchased).  Not sure there's anything under 600 that can touch it.

I bought the Vortex Viper 10x42 binoculars this year.  I couldn't find a local dealer so I had to buy them on faith and mail order them.  I was pleasantly surprised when I got them.  They aren't quite a Swarovsky but reasonably close with a price tag of $400...

I agree with the transferable warranty & made in America stuff for sure! Most Optics do not offer this!

The vipers will rival most of the Swarovski line, compare them & see, I've done it! They will not rival the 10x42 ELs though, the Swarovskis have the edge there, but that's the top of the line Optics for them, the Viper is not the top of the line for Vortex! Compare the Vortex Razors now & that's a different story, they are neck & neck, I've done this as well. The thing is the Swarovski 10x42 EL is selling on ebay right now for 1995.00. The Razors are sold by us for 769.00 & that's with free shipping & a free Vortex Bino Harness.  Now that's a huge difference & you sacrifice nothing in quality. But you have a better warranty with Vortex.

Incidentally, the Vipers in 10x42 sell for 509.00, that's a huge difference as well, yet you would have to pass both the Swarovski ELs & the Vipers back & forth several times to see what the differences are. They are that good! If you go to the SLC line of swarovski then you will see the Vipers really shine at better that 1/2 the cost! Just food for thought when making comparisons!
Contact me if you have any questions about pricing or other Optics as our prices aren't on our Site as of yet!

  Thanks/ElkNUt/Paul

Vortex web site says the Viper in 10X42 is 609.00 MSRP. The prices quoted here differ quite a bit or am I cross eyed?

The msrp isn't what they generally sell for.  I got my Viper 10x42 for about $400...

I am sure there are a variety of prices that folks have gotten. I am just stating that Elknut1 says "We" as in Vortex sell for this amount and yet it differs with what the Vortex sites states. Elknut1, are you representing Vortex with your price quotes?

Let me clarify lest I be misunderstood. I am thinking about some new optics and Vortex are a possibility. Now I am confused on where to get the best price. I naturally went to the Vortex site for pricing. I am not trying to start an argument, just asking for clarification.

Houndhunter  LOL!!!!  I don't think so!! (grin)

KillBilly, Yes, the Vipers do list at 609.00 that's what they'd cost you if you ordered them direct, but I sell them for less! 509.00 is what we sell them for & of course I'm talking new in the box with great looking carrying case & lens cleaning kit. The Vipers are awesome! They are unreal bright & clear. The warranty is unmatched!

If anyone is needing to save a buck I have a demo model here I've used for the last few months, I can sell them for less since they're used! PM me if interested? They still have the case & kit of course! Thanks!

Shawn, did you buy them new? All Vortex dealers have a set limit on how low the price can be, 400.00 is no where near it. I understand if they were used, but if new you might not want to say by whom as they would lose their Dealers privilege. I promise you no where can you buy them for 400.00 new!

KillBilly, yes I do represent Vortex, as a Dealer of course. We as dealers are allowed a profit margin, we can go as high as they allow or as low as they allow so not one of us can be ridiculously low & put companies out of business or where they wouldn't consider carrying Vortex products! It's simple as that!

My Vortex spotting scope was made in China.  But it does carry the life time transferable warranty.  Also, the guys at Vortex are a pleasure to deal with.  They are very customer service oriented.

I've looked through the Razor and Viper binos.... both are really good.   For the price the Viper is almost untouchable.  In the 450-550 $ range those things flat out kick ass.

I've only looked through 1 of their rifle scopes.  I wasn't overly impressed.... it was good but it wasn't cheap($).  Their price point on them doesn't look to be as good as their binos/spotters.  But having said that I haven't really had a chance to compare them fully w/ other riflescopes on the market.  I'm basing that more on just that in the $ ranges you'd pay for 1 of their rifle scopes theres some pretty stiff competition.

All in all I truly believe they are a top notch company that produce some great optics at some really good prices.

From the research I've done.  The better quality vortex are made in Japan.  The lower end stuff is made in China.  These are not made in the U.S.A.

The viper and razor use the same glass.  The ergonomics are the only difference.  Unless somethings changed.  Both are said to be above 90% of a swarovski binoc.  Not bad considering the price you pay for them.

The sportsmans in Lacey told me they were going to be carrying vortex soon.  That will be nice to be able to compare them to some of the other quality glass out there.  I'd like to see how they compare to some pentaz ed and the minox hg.

I got the Diamondback. Much happier than paying the extra loot for the VXI I was going to buy. It's probably better than the VXI I was going to buy as well. Mine was made in the Phillippines.

I'll try to get a comparison vs VXI and VXII in the next few weeks as I have both of those scopes as well...

they are probably great scopes but what I cant get over is that they are not made in the USA. I like to buy made in the USA products whenever possible. I would assume that vortex is an american company with employee's here so i guess that is ok. Does anyone know if that is true.

Ray, glad you like the Scope! It will amaze you in low light conditions, take it out right at dark & compare to the Leupold. Thanks!

Guys, I'm no different, I like USA stuff too, Vortex is owned & operated in the U.S. since the early 80's--Check here!
  http://www.audubonbinoculars.com/pages/about_us

Like many things in this world they are assembled overseas, there's no getting around it for sure! So is about everything you own! Where do you think the appliances in your home are made, & tires, CDs, DVDs, TV, VCR, Cam corders, 99% all optics are made out of the U.S. car-parts, cell-ph. the list is never ending!! (grin) Point is we're all in one way or another using products daily that are not hand-made here!  Even the PC you're on right now! Yet none of us are willing to do without most of these luxuries, I know I'm not!

In the case of Optics, it doesn't matter to me what you like best, to each his own, it's a personal decision, but most guys like knowing when they spend their hard earned money that they're getting the most for it no matter where it's made. It's the only reason I suggested Vortex Optics, because for less money in most cases you will get a better optic when hovering within a couple hundred dollars for a like Optic. No, I do not get them for free or am I a Pro Staffer, but I do use them & saw how awesome they were compared to other Optics after using them for 2-years, it was then I decided to ask for a dealership in them, simple as that! I will say however, that I do have an enthusiastic personality, but I'm harmless!! (grin)

If I told you there was a gas station where you could buy gas for a 1.50 a gallon would you argue or debate where it was made before buying it? I doubt it! Yet, I don't sell gas, I'm just sharing some great info with you & where to get it!! (grin) Thanks!
