As long as you applied last year it will tell you how many points you have otherwise you have to call WDFW.

I have 7
I still dont think its enough,  I hunt eastern washington rifle.  Any thoughts on the hunts you would put in for.  Keep in mind i like the whole area between i-90 and 410, what hunts would you put in for.  besides the hunt goin on when all the spike hunters are out.

Seven is plenty. Heck you can draw a permit with no points. Doesn't matter. It's all luck. But 7 poinst will help stack the odds in your favor. That's 64 chances you'll have in this year's drawing, compared to those with no points having only 1 chance.

With 7 points don't you have 49 chances....7 squared? Just wondering how you came up with 64. Thanks....Les

Moosestock,

I used to think the same way you're thinking until somebody (I think it was a guy on this board) explained to me how it really worked. With 7 points going into the drawing, you get 1 point added to that when you apply, which makes 8 points and that is what is squared and used to determine how many chances you get in the drawing. At first I thought the guy telling me that was crazy, but finally he was able to convince me (and a whole lot of other people.) If you think about it, it makes sense. Think of how it would work for somebody with zero points. Zero squared is zero. But I always thought ok, well, with zero points you must get just one chance. But then the next year with 1 point, you would still get only 1 chance because 1 squared is 1. That wouldn't be fair for a person going into the draw with no points having the same odds as somebody with 1 point. So the thing is you can't have zero points. You always start out with 1. The second year applying you have 2 points, for 4 chances. I hope that makes sense.

I was thinking the same thing as moosestock when I read your post. But now that you explained it that way it makes perfect sense.

Well congrats Coug!! Sounds like a couple nice bulls you got there. Love to see the pics. Thanks.
Here's the link to the pictures you wanted to see.  Been 7 years already, i'm due to draw again one of these years.  I'd rather draw a buck tag though.

I have 6 points right now but with the move to idaho i dont think theyll ever be used, kinda sucks to think about all the moose goat and sheep points im gonna let go to waste too, but ill probably keep applying for deer till i burn up my points, just not quite as time consuming as elk hunting

Exactly my situation with moving to Oregon. Oh well, I will start the process over down there. Much better hunting down there anyway, and it seems like they know how to manage.  :)

Well i guess idaho has some good elk hunting too so im kinda excited about that, and much better odds on all the once in a lifetime trophy species, there are units with about a 10 percent chance of drawing on goat and sheep, still havent figured out how the odds are better than pronghorn yet. oh and i might be able to hunt wolves down here too(fingers crossed) thats a plus

There are some big *censored*s up there if you draw the Quinault tag...if you can get them out of the park!
