I do not own one yet, but from what I read they are replicas and made to specs with better technology/materials. 
Joe's in Lakewood, WA has an 1873 model 24.25" barrel in 45 LC really nice for $999.

I have two, a revolver and a rifle, both blackpowder.  They are both quality guns, I have no complaints.

Excellent guns. If I understand it right, Beretta bought them out and now their attention to detail is making them even better.
