I hunted up by Oso/Darrington. For my first opening day for bear season had a pretty good day. First time to the area I was hunting and saw one backtail doe, lots of peels, plenty of scat, and about a hundred "bear tunnels" in the thick. Hiked my a** off, met a few other hunters.......and had a guy shoot a bear just around the corner from me. Here is the bear, the hunter, and me with the bear. He has on a hat, I am grinning like a fool in the green tshirt.

Well went to the honey hole yesterday looking for the big one. Me and the old man went in to the top of the first cut and spotted about a 200 pounder but both decided it was to small. We watched him do his thing for around 30 minutes and almost talked ourselves into shooting, but we let him go in the end. Only one bear total on the opener but we will see what happens tuesday im taking my brother-in-law up for his first hunt and I figure if the 200 pounder is there again we will take him. pictures to come ;)

Went out yesterday, found that the bears are still feeding in the timber.I found most berries not ripe, and the bears still tearing into stumps.I also found a tree that one had climbed up and chewed on trying to get at the termites. If I can figure out how to post pics with my new cell phone, I'll show you guys.I met some great people with a key to the gate I was walking behind. So I ended up at the top of the mountain without jello legs. There were seven of us hunting, only one person seen a bear.No shot! All in all a great day out in the woods.Terrific turnout in my neck of the woods, all but two gates had cars parked at them.

send it to your email then save it on your computer. That is what I do.

Nice that you didn't have to walk all the way in.

Bear down for the willapa hills. went out at 5:45 this morning checked a couple of berry patches herd on bear down in the bottom but never could get a look at him. came back in had some lunch, screwed around for a while. me and a buddy headed back out at 5:00pm to check the same areas the last clear cut we check we saw a bear all the way a crossed the canyon on the road i fired the first shot and missed ranged at 303 yds the bear ran down the clear cut my buddy shot and hit him done deal. went down after the bear turned out to be a small bear only about 100lbs be his first bear. i just got him in the cooler about 10mins ago it was a long drive out and a hell hole to get him out of. so for a first day not too bad. :)

Congrats on tagging your First Bear! :IBCOOL:

There was a guy yesterday that had a flat tire in a white pickup.

Before this goes very far I will say the few hunters I met seemed upstanding and legal in their methods. I covered a lot of ground and didn't see any signs of baiting or illegal activitiy. Met one guy that had a key to the gate and he gave me his cell number just in case I shot something. Said he'd be happy to bring his truck up haul it down. "You never know" is very true but looked like everybody was on the up and up. Just saying.

Ya just makes me mad to see that someone who was caught poaching previously is still able to hunt.I hunt that spot there quite a bit with not alot of success yet they pulled over ten bear out of there every year in just a few days.Seems odd don't it? Guess like fishing, bait works best.
