so my string and cable just snapped and i dont want to take the chance of buying a string and finding out my cams are warped or something like that so im going to buy a cheap bow for this season. has anyone shot the martin cheetah or the diamond rock 2.0? i feel both would work just great but i can get a cheetah for 330 dollars. brand new in the box. i have shot it before but dont remember too much how it felt. any input would be fine except about martin limbs being fragile. i dont buy into those rumors. same with the mathews monster string coming off the cams all the time. i think those problems are isolated cases for the most part and are not an isssue with the bow company in general. thanks.

i do not like the cheetah at all myself i have shot a few of them and i would spend the extra 50-100 and buy a lot better bow then the 2 you listed myself if i had to pick one the rock is a pretty good bow but still not my first choice by a long shot. i have shot both these bows and if you are set on one of the 2 buy the rock.

that is funny as well most the martin limbs are very good it was the older bows that have had more problems and they had a bad batch last year but i also feel like you they are more issolated then some make out to belive. but i have seen a limb on a martin break on the shooting line. it was a older bow for sure, but was still scary. but like said not somthing most would have to worry about. and i have also seen a string come off the monster as well and that was scary as $hit also but he was asking for it shooting the super lite speedpros at like 370fps with 55 grain tips
just thought i would share first hand true stories.

Ya I have the 08 cheetah and love it. It shoots really nice, really pleased with it. I was really impressed when last season my brother who also has the same bow accidentaly dry fired his while shooting at a deer (he didn't realize the arrow came off the nock) so he got ahold of martin and they told him to ship the bow to them and they would fix it at no charge. I thought that was pretty awsome they did that for him. The right limb was shattered in half.

I bought a Cheetah in 07, because I wanted to hunt turkey. It was my first compound bow, I hadn't shot a bow for years and didn't know if I could get into it. I have shot turkey, deer, elk, moose, pigs and bunch of small game with it. I've been pretty rough with it. just carrying it around in my truck in a soft case. I even changed cams out for my new wife before she got her Passion. It has never failed me and is quite accurate out to 50 yds.
This year my wife bought me a Z7. Now, I love my Z7. It is quieter and smoother and looks really cool. But I still carry the Cheetah in my truck all the time. I don't think you can go wrong with the Cheetah, especially for the price and the service the people down at Martin offer.

if you looking for a low priced bow check out the mission line. they are made by mathews. they come with the same warrenty. they are excelent shooting bows. i bought my 09 last year when it came out for 500. if you can find an 09 on a shelf then you should be looking at around 375. they are top of the line performers. i have a buddy that switched from the reazon to an eliminator and loves the mission. call out imporium in seattle they carry missions

I know of 2 Cheetah's that were less than 6 months old that blew up in the shooters face. That alone, would stop me from buying one.

Mathews/Mission.. GREAT Bows. Great Rep. But you are also paying at least 200 or more for their marketing and TV shows. No one I think puts as much money into their marketing as Mathews does. Than again, I think they are probably the largest bow maker too.
Martin... I had a saber as my first entry level bow.. good bow. Very accurate, easily adjustable, Felt very solid. I now have a Firecat TR2, basically Martins top of the line bow. My buddy has a Z7 and as far a being as smooth as accurate, forgiving, all of that.. they are almost identical. Difference.. Mine is faster and mine is cheaper and comes with the same warranty and mine is made in WA. As a River West Pro Team member, I like supporting NW hunting industry companies.
As a bit of secret.. if you want a REALLY nice bow that is completely assembled and very affordable, call this guy:
http://bestbowprice.com/
his name is Kevin and even though he is located back east, he sets up your bow completely, for WAY less than anybody else and is a huge Martin fan.
