Guy did this buck said it was HARD because very thin hairly and hard for him to wrap and stiche it up.
Short haired bucks tend to come out nice. They show off the fine muscle detail in the face and neck and a lot of veins in the face. They can be very difficult to sew up if you are not use to it. If you can sew a dorsal on a small mammal than you can defiantly do it on deer.
I've had 4 years of sewing short haired animals while in South Georgia. The deer and small mammals in Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana never fully develope a winter coat. The temps rearly get below 35 degrees down their in the winter. I would say the average temp is between 35 and 50 degrees in the winter.
One thing I've learned about short haired deer is you want to sew as little as possible. So I don't split my short haired capes all the way dont the back. I do a short "Y" from the antlers down the neck just enough to get the skull out.
