For a 30 year old outboard?  :yike:

Dude,you're crazy.

That thing isn't worth more than a couple hundred bucks.

$500 at the most and only if it's in museum condition. You have no idea what the water jackets look like or anything else for that matter. I would want to see it run for at least 20 minutes before buying an outboard that old. That thing is going to eat you alive on gas too, 4-strokes save you so much money on gas it's incredible.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

I wouldn't touch it. Getting parts for it will be a bigger challenge than getting the old one off. LOL

Rule of thumb on old boat motors -
Good runners, never let you down, etc. - $10/hp tops.
Runs, but needs some work - $5/ hp tops.
Not running - scrap value less disposal fees for non-salvageable parts.

I looked at NADA and they had it priced at $180.

Of course thats just a starting point. Could be a few bucks more,or less depending on condition. One guys excellent is another guys junk.

Call a couple dealers and get their opinion.

Are you re-powering your boat? If so, what are you looking at getting?
