Which one T/C Or Traditions
« on: August 03, 2010, 07:32:31 PM »
Got lucky and havce both elk and elk multi-season tags. Looking at buying a muzzleloader and can't decide. Looked at both the T/C Northwest and the Tradition Vortek Ultra-light any input on tese would be most helpful.

make sure the vortek you are looking at is good for washington state there is only one of the vorteks that is from what i understand. the northwest t/c only has a 1:48 twist which was designed to shoot conicals and lead round balls. 90% of the people that have got them have not liked them and got rid of them or taken them back because they want to shoot sabots and they don't shoot them well from what i have heard and read.

Thanks found that post. The Tradition is WA legal. It's the Vortek Ultra-light Northwest Edition has the exposed nipple and brreech with 1:28 twist.

Thanks again. Mainly a bowhunter but want to utilize those tags. Didn't relize the barrel twist made such a big deal.

yeah the quicker the rate of twist the more spin as well. it can make a huge diffrence! i have looked at the ultra light as well and i am thinking of maybe picking one up as well. i already have 2 muzzle loaders and they are both fine and great but i am a freak what can i say  must buy :chuckle: looks like a very nice gun and it should take musket caps which is a real plus for me because i will not shoot 11 any more since i switched i will not go back. i want to call and see if i can get a tumb hole stock to put on it as well  :chuckle:

I just bought the Vortek, havent shot it yet but it looked like one of the better ones out there.  I like how easy the breech plug is to remove.

Is this Vortek new? I've never heard of it? I'll have to check into it.

Thanks, and looks like your punctuation is improving!   :)

I think I want one of these now too. Even though I don't really NEED more than one muzzleloader.  :dunno:

Yeah, I looked. I found one that has the same number as the Northwest model, except it doesn't have a "w" after it. So I'm assuming it's the same gun but just has the 209 primer ignition instead of the musket cap.
