Whitetails don't like salt!!
Wow you actually caught one on a trail cam! Did it attack the camera after that photo?
I always put a salt lick next to an established game trail and in a good place for a treestand. Last one I set out had animals on it the very next day and within a few days had elk, mule deer, whitetail and moose on it - maybe more since something unplugged my battery about 2weeks into the soak. Here is the block that I used herehttp://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.orschelnfarmhome.com/productImages/img_104700024.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.orschelnfarmhome.com/Livestock/Livestock-Salt-Mineral-and-Milk-Replacer/Livestock-Protein-and-Minerals/Salt-50-Lbs-Big-6-Trace-Mineral-Block-104700024&usg=__lmQi6n_1Ou2Df9wqAUlw3JaCUAE=&h=300&w=300&sz=90&hl=en&start=4&sig2=fYMhvg-3NH3U-glQEsaIXA&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=uFos6CWJuoQKvM:&tbnh=116&tbnw=116&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsalt/mineral%2Bblocks%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DN%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=f7lZTN7RBIH6swOns-2dCAHere are a few pics from throughout the soak - camera was set on the 3rd and first deer was in on the 4th - last pic on the 19th (When it was unplugged ) camera sat for another week and a half before checking it. By then it was really beat down around the block.behind the camera is a junction where 3 trails intersect and I have a tree stand off to the left.
Those are mineral trace blocks but you don't have to pack some 20 lb block out there just buy the smaller one as they work just as good.

Did it attack the camera after that photo?Figured I would catch some crap for that one - but I figured it would be received better than a picture of me. I included as a time stamp for when we dropped off the camera and salt block
I can see where this is going bet you don't post that one again!

Remember salt consumption drops off drastically in September and will continue till spring time.
The whitetails around my place hit the trophy rocks pretty much year round.
